Resolving Insufficient Pressure Issues in a Haco Atlantic press brake Synchromaster SRM 150 12 10 with Easybend 2D T Control in Louisiana

Updated: May 6

When a Haco Atlantic press brake Synchromaster SRM 150 12 10 machine equipped with Easybend 2D T control struggles with insufficient pressure to move the ram, it halts production and cause frustration. This problem often points to issues within the hydraulic system, particularly the proportional pressure relief valve. Addressing this requires a careful, step-by-step approach to diagnose and fix the root cause.

Diagnosing the Pressure Problem

The first step involves installing a pressure gauge on the Hoerbiger manifold to monitor pressure changes accurately. Gradually increasing the pressure while observing the gauge helps identify irregularities. In this case, a vibration was noticed in the proportional pressure relief valve during pressure adjustments. This vibration often signals internal contamination or mechanical wear affecting valve performance.

Cleaning the Proportional Pressure Relief Valve

Opening the valve revealed black residue inside the spring plunger and cartridge. This residue can block smooth valve operation, causing pressure fluctuations and insufficient force to move the ram. Cleaning the valve components thoroughly removed the residue, restoring proper function. After reassembling the valve, pressure tests showed a steady and consistent readout, confirming the cleaning was effective.

Checking Control Parameters and Valve Adjustments

With the valve functioning properly, the next step was to verify the maximum pressure settings and parameters programmed into the Easybend 2D T control. Ensuring these settings match the machine’s specifications is critical for reliable operation.

Additionally, the counterbalance relief valves on both the left and right sides were inspected and adjusted. These valves maintain stability and prevent the ram from dropping uncontrollably and sucking a vacuum in the cylinders. Proper adjustment ensures smooth ram movement and safety during operation.

Fine-Tuning Ram Level and Filler Block Alignment

To complete the service, the ram level reference was checked using a dial indicator. This precision tool measures the ram’s position and helps maintain consistent bending quality. Adjusting the ram level ensures the punch and die align correctly during each cycle.

The filler block was also dialed in to be exactly centered with the top punch. Proper alignment prevents uneven bending and reduces wear on tooling components, extending their lifespan.

Practical Tips for Preventing Pressure Issues

  • Regularly change the oil, clean the tank and replace the strainer in the tank and the pressure filter going in the manifold.

  • Monitor pressure gauges during operation to catch early signs of instability.

  • Adjust counterbalance valves periodically to maintain ram stability.

  • Use precision tools like dial indicators to check alignment and level of the ram.

Maintaining these practices helps keep the Service SRM 150 12 10 with Easybend 2D T control running smoothly and prevents downtime caused by pressure problems.

AVM Technologies also advised that the machine has no type 4 safety device installed and we can offer to do an integration with a DSP laser type 4 safety device or a Lazersafe safety device that will interrupt the control signals to the pump and manifold block if it deems it is unsafe to press down
